Radio Flyer asked me if I would like to review the new Cyclone, a hand powered toy that allows your kids to zoom, spin and grin as they play. Being that spring is here and my kids are chomping at the bit to go outside and play I was more than happy to review a new toy… with the help of my kids. This is for kids ages 3-7 which is perfect for my 4 and 6 year old.
Assembly for me is always the worst part, lets face it I hate reading instructions and trying to put things together. But it went together rather smoothly and my 4 year old was happy to help me find the needed tools for the job. A hammer, screwdriver and wrench. Give him a few more years and he will be putting them together on his own :).
The Cyclone is different from all our other Radio Flyer toys as it is based on ARM POWER! You sit on the seat, put your legs on the platform in front of you and in order to GO you spin the wheels with your hands. They have nice grips to hold on to and each wheel moves independently so you can turn, control your speed or perform tricks. You can move forward or backward as well.
I do like the stability the large wheels offer and being that it is low to the ground they can spin and whirl around without tipping over. It did take a little bit of a learning curve for my kids to learn how to move the wheels together. They also found it was easier to ride it on the sidewalk or street as the lawn was harder for them to navigate.
