When I go to the store there are a few items that are always on my list. Items such as milk, eggs, bread, fruit, and toilet paper. Pretty much the basics in life, these items are a must (at least in our house). We have a family of seven, yes that means I have 5 kids. Our little baby girl is still in diapers but that leave 6 of us that use toilet paper every single day, multiple times a day!
We have three bathrooms and it seems like almost every time I walk into one of them I have an empty toilet paper roll staring at me, just hanging on the wall waiting for me to change it. Or it is just tossed on the floor. It drives me nuts! Sure it only takes me a few seconds to take the old cardboard tube off and add a new roll, or to pick the tube up off the floor. But doing this almost every day of my life gets old!
Don’t get me wrong we have made some pretty amazing kid crafts out of those tubes, everything from binoculars, flutes, bird feeders, heart stamps… they are amazing for kids art projects. Yet I have often thought there has got to be a better way. Did you know the “tube” in toilet paper has been the same for almost a 100 years? Did you know that Scott came out with Scott Tube-Free toilet paper? Looks pretty much the same, you would never know the difference until you look at the side and realize there is no tube inside the roll.
Sounds like a great plan, but does it still work the same? I just told you all that it feels as if I am the only one in the house who will change the tube over to a new roll. But I wanted to make sure my kids could add the new Scott Tube-Free toilet paper if they needed too. Sure enough it was super easy, even my six year old son could slide it on without any trouble. I love that once they get to the end of the roll it is just gone, no tube to mess with. All you gotta do is slide another roll on!
I love the time saving aspects of this, but I also love the environmental difference it can make. They estimate that each person will use over 3000+ rolls of toilet paper in their lifetime. So that would mean my family of 7 would use over 31,000 rolls. Pretty sure I would need to change out about 20,000 of those myself (life of a Mom) lol. It’s such an easy way to make an difference by switching to Scott Tube-Free toilet paper! Do you think that is just silly, it will not make much of an impact? Did you know in just 2 minutes (yes only 120 seconds) Americans will go through over 66,000 tubes! Makes you think a little bit more about how awesome the tube free option is!
