Recently I saw an article a facebook friend had shared that I couldn’t believe I didn’t know about. I want to get the word out in case you are in the dark like I was. Here is the original article.
This is a great app that I really had just kept in a folder out of view and hadn’t given much thought to, not realizing how great it really is.
The Health app is a free app that is already on newer Apple devices. While it has a pedometer and health meters that are great, its real hero is the medical info you can save. This would be handy if you were in an accident or need to get to a hospital but are unable to communicate. It has a spot for your name, emergency contact info, allergies, meds you are taking, important info that could save you from a potential reaction.
All you have to do is open the “health” app. In the bottom right corner is “medical ID”. Click on it to get to the screen above and begin saving your information. If you select “show when locked” than there is no need to know your security code to access the information. On the lock screen, select “emergency” down in the bottom corner. It will then take you to the next screen where you can select “medical ID”.
So easy, and already included on your device. It is potentially a life saver and definitely a piece of mind provider. I immediately did it to my daughter’s phone. I love the extra security of knowing that if she isn’t with me she would still have the vital info in an emergency situation.
