Thanks to Brooke for this tip,

Easy and inexpensive costume idea. When I was younger my mom brought home a large box, we used Christmas paper (of course bought on clearance from last year) to wrap it, we cut holes for my head and my arms and we cut the bottom out (for my legs), we put ribbon around the box and I went as a Christmas present!  For the kids that live in areas that get quite cold, I was able to wear a nice warm coat underneath my costume.

Thanks to Kim for this tip,

A way that my family saves money at Holloween is we reuse our decorations from previous years, we also take a tree branch and paint it black, and my kids make  homemade decorations  and put it on the branch to make a haunted tree, and also the costumes that we buy I just wait for the BIG sale, plus my kids like to play dress up all year round. so I get my monies worth 🙂
