Where my heart is ornament ~ Easy DIY Christmas Craft ideas
I love when a craft idea comes to mind and seems to come together as seamlessly as you had hoped.
I saw these bare wood ornaments at Hobby Lobby one day and knew instantly what I wanted to do with them.
You will need:
USA ornament or cut out
paint
fine tip sharpie or paint marker
I started out by painting my ornaments white. I figured this was safest for most tree decor and color schemes.
Once the paint is dry you can draw your hearts on. With this cutout it had no boundaries for each state, so I had to do a little estimating. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just get it as close as you can. I drew mine on with a fine tip sharpie to be sure that they were small hearts. Then, draw a dashed line to connect the two hearts. I like the swirly lines the best, but a straight line would also look nice. The ornaments I did are from Boise Idaho to Whittier, North Carolina and from Boise to Seattle Washington. I think that I got them pretty close.
I chose to write a little poem on the back of each of them. You could add a little note or a picture too.
My Idaho to Seattle ornament is a little bare, but I also like the simplicity of it. Painting it in a different color would have given it a little more visual interest I suppose.
