White rice in the electric pressure cooker, comes out perfect every time
White rice in the electric pressure cooker, comes out perfect every time!
I wish this photo did the fluffy, perfect, grains of white rice justice! Really, every time I have done this method in my pressure cooker, it comes out perfect. Not too sticky, not too wet, not too hard. So give it a shot and tell me what you think.
Let me begin by saying that I know this works for white rice, I haven’t tried this method with other types of rice yet, so keep that in mind.
Start by spraying the pot of your electric pressure cooker with a little bit of cooking spray. It doesn’t have to be the whole pot, the bottom part that will have rice in it will be all that needs sprayed.
Once you have sprayed, pour in the desired amount of rice. Once the rice is in, add water. The amount of water you need will be twice the amount of rice, minus 1/4 cup. Example: If you use 1 and 1/2 cups of rice, you will want to put in 2 and 3/4 cups of water. Double is 3, minus 1/4 makes it 3/4. So always double the water, minus 1/4 cup.
Next, dump the water into the pressure cooker and give it a small stir to mix it.
If you have a 7 in 1 type pot like the Instant Pot which is what I use, than you are going to just hit the rice function button. However, if you have an electric pressure cooker that doesn’t have the pre-programmed settings, set it for 10 minutes.
Put the lid on, seal it and let it do its thing!
I have cooked this rice ahead of time and warmed it up, and it was still perfect! No gloppy, sticky mess!
