About Us I am a stay at home mom with three wonderful kids. I have been married for over 8 years to my best friend. I am head over heals in love with him. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". We have a lot of fun together. I was raised on a small dairy farm. Where I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Growing up our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet. I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me, but it has also become a real joy.

If you buy your Sunday papers from the news stand   MAKE SURE you look to see if the coupons are in them.  There has been a huge problem with people stealing the coupons from the papers and not buying the paper. You are out of luck if your coupons are missing from the news stand.  But  If you get the paper delivered to your home ,and have a subscription with them, and if for any reason your coupons or inserts are missing  CALL THEM SUNDAY MORNING ASAP!!!  They will be happy to bring out your missing inserts but they need to have you call in time to get on that days re-deliver route.  For the Idaho Press Tribune customer service call 208-467-9252

I am lucky to have a local paper, The Idaho Press Tribune that lets me buy Multiple Sunday papers for only .60 cents each.  To ready about the A Thrifty Mom paper deal click here.  This has been a huge key to my coupon savings because I am able to get multiple coupons at a rock bottom price! When I add up this weeks Sunday paper coupons, ONE paper has over $105.00 in coupons ( plus 3 Albertsons doubles).  That is a very good deal for only .60 cents!!!!!!!  I buy 6 and get 4 from friends for a total of 10 Sunday papers, that means this week I will get  $ 1050.00 in coupons!

  • I bought from the newstand this morning at Wal-mart by the freeway and I did not get smart source!

  • Kathy I am sorry to hear that…..this happens all the time…You may want to think about get the papers from the Idaho Press Tribune. I use to run out and buy my papers Monday morning and pray I would find some….most the time all the coupons were missing. It is SO Nice to have them dropped off at my door every Sunday!!!!

I’ve complained plenty about missing inserts/papers from the Press Tribune, but I’m happy to say that I haven’t had any problems with my subscription the last few weeks!! HOORAY!!!

  • Liz

My newspaper in Idaho only carries smart source. I emailed them, no response. :(

  • Liz I know that some of the Eastern Idaho papers no longer get the P&G or the Red Plum…but good news they plan to get it back in August!!!!

There was also a single flyer (in the Press Tribune) insert that had Venus & Gillette coupons on them. One was for $3 off Venus Embrace or Spa Breeze; B1G1 Free Satin Care shave gel; $3 off Gillette Fusion; B1G1 Gillette shave gel.

My paper was missing a red plum and 2 of the gillette inserts. I called and they will be replacing them. I’ve had a lot of issues with missing coupons and I even get it delivered, but they are always excellent about replacing the missing items.

  • Well I had a TON of Twice Value coupons with that Albertsons insert. 18 of them as a matter of fact! I used them ALL!

    I bought:
    6 jars of Planters peanuts B1G1 – $4.19
    4 bottles WishBone Dressing – $2.69
5 pkgs Tyson precooked steak strips – $2.99
All together it would have been $38.28 I only paid $15.87

BE on the lookout. My Albertsons has decided to limit transactions to 3 per customer, then you have to go put your grocerys in the car and start over. I have a feeling as this coupon trend goes up, so will this trend!

  • Kathy, yes my store has asked us to only do one transaction at a time, and then get back in line. It is to try and help the registers open….my store was having ladys check out and it was taking them 30 mins to get thru the line. This is just a way to try to help customer service to all people in there store.

Does anyone know if Kmart is doing their doubles?

  • Amy some areas are next week but as of now it looks like Idaho will not be part of this promo…hope that helps

  • About 100,000 residents of Metro Atlanta get a special food edition of the Atlanta Journal & Constitution on Thursdays – delivered to our neighborhood. This has the following Sunday’s coupon inserts in it. Most of my neighbors don’t even pick them up – so I have arranged to take care of that! I cut out what I need and give the rest away on my blog. It is usually around 30 inserts and I just can’t justify throwing them away. Thursday is my day to get excited about coupons! Thanks for all your helpful posts.
