Before sales and coupons these would have cost me $14.08
I was able to get all 16 of them for .67 cents
NOW THAT IS A THRIFTY DEAL!

This week at Rite Aid they have their candy bars on sale for buy one for .88 cents get one FREE…but there is also a manufacturer coupon for buy one get one free up to .85 cents. If you use the stores discount and the coupon together it makes them two for .3 cents. I have to tell you I was worried about doing this because I have had trouble in the past with Rite Aid taking my coupons. If they give me a hard time I tend to just leave with out the items…..I am just a wimp it guess. Anyway, my cashier was super friendly scanned all my coupons and was just as excited about my good deal as I was. I had a wonderful trip, and it makes me want to try to shop there again.
Some stores or cashiers are fine to let you use the BOGO free sale with the BOGO free coupon …but others refuse. Here are my thoughts on it. The store is selling you 2 items one of them way over priced to make up for the free item they are giving you. ( really who pays .88 cents for a candy bar?) They run the sale like this to make you buy 2 items, each for .44 cents. If they had just marked them on sale for .44 cents most of us would only buy one …not 2. So the BOGO sale moves more product for the store. So the store is giving you a discount on one. The Manufacturer coupon is giving you a discount on the other…..so to parties are coming together both offering a discount, and you just happen to have great timing and used both discounts to your advantage. Remember the store will get paid for the coupon so they are not loosing any money, and you are following the terms of the coupon….allowing a free candy bar up to the value of .85 cents.

This is why I shouldn’t have waited until the last night of the sale to try and use my coupons. It’s too late to do anything.
I went to my local Rite Aid in Sandy, UT and the manager would only let me use my coupons to buy one and get 3 free. (What?)
I explained that the store is giving me one free and the manufacturer is giving me one free with the coupon and I didn’t understand why I couldn’t use my coupons to get them all free. She said it was the manufacturer who was reimbursing the store for the BOGO free sale. I told her that several people have been able to use them at other Rite Aids and get them all for free (only paying tax).
I ended up leaving empty handed. I will wait until another store does a BOGOF sale I guess. Thanks for the heads up, though. It was worth a try. I will definitely email corporate and let them know what happened.
April i had 8 coupons
I did my deal today also. I 4 coupons from the blinkie at Publix, red plum and the free candy coupon in the mail. When I went to Rite Aid, I told the cashier that the maximum amount allowed was 85 cents for each coupon. The cashier did not want to listen to me so he took of 88 cents for each coupon I gave him. I ended up paying only 14 cents for 16 candy bars. I told him several times the amount to take off and even showed him on the coupon. I hope he don’t get in trouble.
How many BOGO free coupons did you use?
Thanks for the heads up! I worked the deal at Rite Aid today using the BOGO blinkie coupons I got from Kroger the other day. I had to laugh (sorta) because this particular blinkie machine was set to wait about 30 seconds before it dispensed another coupon (I only took 4…one for each member of my family). What we’ll do for chocolate!
I did this deal today and the MEAN cashier wouldn’t let me use the coupons. I made her get the manager who ended up telling her, “Why are you asking me this…of course she can use the coupons!” LOL
That was definitely the worst cashier I have EVER met! She actually huffed when I asked for a raincheck on another item.
Lisa I am using the buy one get one free coupon……as well as the BOGO free sale
I think after sleep I get it. I was thinking of a coupon that I had that was b1g1 free. But you are using your free coupons right?
There was also the same coupon that came from a blinkie near the milk at BI LO this last week-might still be there. Thanks for the post- I need to use mine!
I just say that the store is running the BOGO promotion and the coupons are a manufactures promotion. It is kind of like using a store “coupon” with a manufactures coupon (stacking).
Tiffany it came from the 5/17 red plum coupon insert
Where did you get the coupon?
Lisa at rite aid they are buy one for .88 cents get one Free. the coupon is also buy one get one free( up to .85 cents) use the sale and the coupon together……and you get them both for 03 cents
Ok, I have lots of these coupons, but I don’t understand how there were only .03 for two. Is there a way you are able to tell us how?
This is a great deal. I guess now is a good time to use my coupons I received in the mail.
