About Us

I am a stay at home mom with four wonderful kids. I have been married for over 9 years to my best friend. I am head over heals in love with him. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". We have a lot of fun together.

I was raised on a small dairy farm. Where I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Growing up our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet.

I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me, but it has also become a real joy.

2 boxes of Duncan Hines for 1c at Target with price matching!

duncan hines

Did you get a Walmart ad in yesterday’s paper? (if not, you can pick one up at the store.)
Take the ad to Target and ad match the following Duncan Hines deal at the service desk.

  • Duncan Hines Cake Mix
  • Retail: 78c (at Walmart)
  • Coupon: (2) 50c Target printable and 55c/2 from 10/11 Smart Source
  • Total: 1 cent  for 2!

This deal is only good through Saturday, November 7th!
You should be able to do this… but some people have said their Target won’t let you use Target coupons when you price match.
Most people don’t have trouble using more than 1 like Target printable per transaction.

Thanks Couponing to Disney for passing this along

Sally passed this along,

When you price match at Target the Target Coupons don’t actually stack with the Manufacturer’s Coupons,

So for this Ad it would be:

Duncan Hines Cake Mixes

$1.29 @ Target
- $.50 Target Coupon
= $.79
- $.55/2 Manufacturer’s Coupon
= $.52 each.
You Pay the $.52, then take the ad to Guest Services to Price Match, when they price match, they would refund you the difference between the Price w/ the Target Coupon, and the Price that you are matching, so in this scenario they would refund you $.01.

HTH!

I live in NJ and today I tried to use 3 printable online coupons for the Kellog’s cereal. On the coupon it is printed “only 1 per transaction.” The sales lady refused to let me use all of them. Was she correct? Can anyone help me?

  • If you are in California the Wal-Mart ad is advertising Betty Crocker not Duncan Hines. My Target had several Duncan Hines mixes for $.97 so I paired that with the $.50/1 Target coupon and the $.55/2 manufacturer’s coupon from the paper a few weeks ago and got them for $.20.

    OoOo Thanks Rosie,

I’ll have to try that!! :)

  • I’ve been able to price match and then use a Target coupon on top of the price match… Sally is right, if you go through the check out lane, then go to guest services for the correction they COUNT the target coupon discount as the price they sell it to you (look at the recipt… the target coupons change the line item price of the item normally). However, skip the check out lane and go straight to guest services. Have them do the price match, then give them your target coupons and your manny… should work fine. I got 18 cent boxes of cereal using that method a few months ago. HTH someone!

I’m not sure which add my coupons came from, with Walmart rollback, Betty Crocker frosting $.50 savings on 1 tub, $.78- coupon $.50= $.38 for 1 tub of frosting. May not be the cake mix, but still a good deal.
