About Us

I am a stay at home mom with four wonderful kids. I have been married for over 9 years to my best friend. I am head over heals in love with him. He always supports my crazy "thrifty adventures". We have a lot of fun together.

I was raised on a small dairy farm. Where I learned very young, the value of hard work and how to be thrifty in all areas of life. Growing up our meals were made from scratch. Only on special occasion would we get name brand cereal, chips, or any other fancy treats. Now that I am a Mom with my own budget, the basic foods always comes first. I too make most of our meals from scratch and take pride in feeding my family a well balanced healthy diet.

I enjoy seeing how far I can make our budget stretch, and when I take the time to match sales with coupons I am able to get all those "fun & fancy" items that would other wise be out of my budget. Being thrifty has always been a way of life for me, but it has also become a real joy.

Super Thrifty deal on Mr Potato head

mrpotato

Thanks to Aeja for passing this along,

Ran across another deal.  Fred Meyers has Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads on sale B1G1 free.  They make nice Christmas gifts for your toddler!  They are priced at $6.99.  Here is the deal I did:

2 Mr/Mrs. Potato Heads $6.99
Used 2 $2/1 off Mr/Mrs Potato Heads Click here
Total: $2.99 for both

They also had Mr. Potato “Spud Buds” for $10.99, and I was told they were part of the promo — however when I checked out I was told they were not.  Anyway, you can check if your store will include them and do this deal:

2 Spud Buds $10.99
Use 2 $5/1 Spud Buds Click here
Total: $0.99 for both

Thanks to Amanda for this update

I just wanted to let everyone in the Nampa/Caldwell area know that the Nampa Fred Myer is totally out of both the spud buds and the mr. & mrs. potato heads as of today and doesn’t know if they will get more in before the sale is over. Also I tried to get a rain check for them but they got a memo saying that they are no longer able to give out rain checks on toy items. (They couldn’t explain why). If you were planning on getting one at that location I would give them a call first just to see if they got more in, it will save you the trip. I sure do wish I had known; I could have saved myself the hassle.

I went and got mine last night in cda idaho. The cashier would not let me use 2 of the coupons because of the bogo. I ended up getting 2 spud buds (the last 2) for 5.99. Then I went back through and got 2 potato heads silly suitcase toys. They were priced at 16.99. I discovered a 10% off coupon in this ad this time through and with the $5 silly suitcase toy coupon…I paid 8.59 for 2. These were pretty cool too because they came with 40 pieces and the carrier. They also had the dvd UP for 16.99 (not blu ray of course).

I don’t think that Fred Meyer usually gives rain checks for toys. I have asked before and if the ad says “limited to stock on hand” then they won’t write rain checks. It says that on the ad for the Potato Head sale. (My experience is that it pretty much always says that!) I think I just got lucky because the guy that I was talking to even offered. It was later at night so I am not sure if he even usually works in the toy department.

Kadie: when did they give you the rain check? Was it yesterday? I am just wondering if they were giving me a line and if I should contact their corporate office. They told me that they had just received the memo yesterday. It is so frustrating when one place will do something and another wont.

The cashier over road it but when she seen the total looked at the screen and thats when she told me I could only use one coupon.

I just went in there , and there was 3 of the 10.99 potato heads left on the self, they did ring up buy 1 get one free , so my grand total was .99 I was so happy it made my night , this was at the Nampa /Caldwell

At my Fred Meyer, in Southern Oregon they wouldn’t let me use 2 coupons since one item was free. The computer wouldn’t take it. Did your cashiers have to override the computer? Just wondering… One cool thing is that they let me get a rain check on the classic Mr/Mrs Potato Heads! I am excited about that!

I bought 2 of the spud buds (bogo)
and tried to use 2 5.00 coupons but they
would only take one because it was a
    bogo.
Ive had this problem before in the self check out.

  • Target has the spud christmas ones for $5.99, so .99 each after coupon. I have a bunch of toddlers to get christmas presents for, so this works perfect!

Fred Meyers on Locust Grove and Fairview is giving rain checks.

  • Kara

Oh, my grand total for all four came to $5.19!

Anything Mr/Mrs. Potato Head was part of the promo at my store. I got two of the 40 piece cases (16.99) and two spud buds pets(10.99). I used the 10% off home coupon which is good through tomorrow, and four $5 off coupons. I checked the prices on one of those self scan things and it said they were bogo free for all the items.
