Seasonal Tips

games for kids

Here is another fun way to use those Easter Eggs laying around your house from last week. In about 30 seconds you can turn them into tools to help your kids learn.  All you need is a sharpie…. Write the time on one half and a clock showing that time on the other half.  To make it a little more difficult you can match eggs that are NOT the same color.   You can hide the eggs around the room before they start to get a little exercise in as well.

More activities, projects and fun things to do with your kids.

Great LAST MINUTE treat idea for Easter Weekend! If you need more ideas, be sure and follow our Easter Pinterest Board. Peeps In the Dirt Pudding Cups, with OREO Dirt. Quick and Easy Easter Dessert #Peeps, #Easter, #Pudding, #Oreos

If you need a QUICK and EASY treat idea for Spring or Easter then make sure you save this idea for Peeps Pudding Cups, Planting Carrots In “Oreo” Dirt. My kids were SO EXCITED when they saw these!

Peeps In the Dirt Pudding Cups, with OREO Dirt. Quick and Easy Easter Dessert #Peeps, #Easter, #Pudding, #Oreos

You will need

  • Pudding Cups
  • 1 oreo of every cup (crushed)
  • 1 Peep for every cup
  • Starbursts (orange)
  • Rips Candy (green)

Carrot Cupcakes, perfect for Easter or Spring parties, Easter Cupcakes, #Carrots, #Cupcakes, #easter

First step is to make the candy carrots.  They are MUCH easier to work with when they are warm.  I heated up a rice bag in the microwave and set them on it to get them warm.  You could microwave them for a few seconds but you need to be VERY careful cause the hot candy can burn you (that is why I went with the rice bag method).

Cut your Starburst in half. Flatten the top of one end and make the other end pointed. On the flattened end add some green Rips, wrap the flattened end around the Rips and then roll the whole thing to form a carrot shape. Peeps In the Dirt Pudding Cups, with OREO Dirt. Quick and Easy Easter Dessert #Peeps, #Easter, #Pudding, #OreosCrush one Oreo for every pudding cup, I put them in a bag and smash them with a soup can.  Open your pudding cups, place a Peep in the middle of the pudding cup. Sprinkle the crushed Oreos around the peep and then add the candy carrots.  Simple and easy Easter or Spring time treat that will make your kids smile! Enjpy

Maracas Made From Plastic Eggs, Recycle Those Easter Eggs!

If you have kids and do any sort of Easter egg hunt you probably have an abundance of these little guys around the house right after Easter, am I right?  They seem to multiply! Last year I was so excited because I thought we used the last of ours at a family egg hunt.  I didn’t consider that my kids were also participating and we brought home just as many as we took!  Oh well, you might be glad you have extra because now you can make these!

You will need:

plastic eggs

plastic spoons

washi or duck tape

beans, rice, gravel, something to place in your eggs

These are great because they don’t require a trip to the store.  Use what you have and they will be perfect! You will need 2 spoons for every 1 plastic egg.

Begin by putting some of your filler inside your egg.  I used beans because I had them already and they are super inexpensive.  I didn’t fill them very full, you want the beans to be able to move around.  So i filled one half of an egg about half way.  Feel free to experiment and see if different fillings change the sound of the maraca!

Make sure your egg is shut all the way.  You want to be sure you are using an egg that will close all the way, sometimes these eggs like to come apart on their own, don’t use one of those.

Once you have filled it and shut it, place it between two plastic spoons and wrap a few times in your washi tape.

That is it!  Wasn’t that easy?  I thought this would be great for a preschool group or a church nursery.  As long as you keep an eye to make sure they are not opening them.

Enjoy your new instruments!

Easter is just a week away, I am sure many of you have fun family traditions your little ones look forward to each year.  But I want to share this clever idea my friend told me about.  It  reminds me of the magical fairy tale of Jack and the Bean Stalk…. magic beans always add a little extra fun to any story!

All you need is a few Jelly Beans, Lolly Pops or Suckers ( or you could use Easter goodies, books or toys)  and some awesome story telling skills :)

Story idea #1– You found these magic beans that the Easter Bunny must have dropped,  being that these are magic beans they will sprout a magical surprise when planted and watered.  Dig a little hole, cover them up, add water and see what the morning sun brings you! ( I got these flower suckers at the $1.00 store)

Story idea #2– If you do not have the Easter Bunny come to your house, or if you want to add more of a religious teaching, you can talk about Luke Chapter 18 in the Bible.  Talk about how Jesus’s body was laid in the tomb then on the 3rd way was  raised from the dead and lived again.  The flowers can be a symbol of raising up, and living again.
