Dip recipe for Sweet Potato Fries

We have had alot of comments about sweet potato fries, that we thought we would repost this:

I, Ingard, really like sweet potato fries and ketchup just doesn’t seem to go with them, nor does ranch, or honey mustard, nor butter. When I ordered sweet potato fries last summer at a restaurant, they were served them with this sauce called ‘trashy sauce’. This sauce was so yummy I asked our waitress what was in it, she told me she would tell me if I could guess the three ingredients. The game began. :)

So I am sharing this with you all no game involved and it is so simple!

I made it at home today and this is what I used for a single serving:

  • about 1 heaping Tablespoon of sour cream
  • about 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • about 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
  • mix well and then DIP!

We love sweet potato fries too, and this looks great. I'm going to have to try it. We like to make fry sauce with barbeque sauce instead of ketchup, and it's good with sweet potato fries as well as regular fries. I've only tried the frozen sweet potato fries (or had some in restaurants) and never tried to make them myself. We make regular fries by cutting potatoes into strips and baking. Much healthier than frying them. Would you do the same with sweet potatoes, just cut into strips and bake?


I know this may seem silly what do the sweet potatoe fries taste like? Are they sickening sweet like cantalope? I just don't want to waste money on them if they are that sort of flavor since hubby and I neither one like overly sweet foods unless its dessert. ANother thing isn't that dip close to the one lots of people make for dipping fruit in? Kind of like a carmel dip?
