My Shopping trip with three little ones…

IMG_1428As most of you know I TRY to never shop with my kids, it is not that I don’t love them.  They just make it VERY hard to shop.  But we had to go to get their teeth cleaned yesterday so while I was out I thought I would try to get a few deals at Albertsons.  I have to admit they did pretty well, poor little Maleeya  was not to happy in this photo, she wanted “pink milk”.  This is how I did with 3 kids along for the ride,

Wow, I never even knew that stores didn’t allow that. Whenever I pull up to the register I just say that I want to do separate transactions and the cashiers are always so nice and say okay. By the way I love your blog because it’s the only one I’ve found that does Albertsons savings, which is my new love!! God Bless

Sarah, so do you just walk out of the store, then back in? Do you go thru the same register?
So far I have found a few Albs that allow multiple transactions,(so I just go thru the line 3 times if it’s busy, or if it’s not busy just ask them to ring them up separately and they don’t mind at all) but also found a couple that only allow the one

Jinjue, my store asks me to only do one set at a time…then get back in line…which I am happy to do.

Sarah, Thanks for the heads up about the 1-5 doublers! I went late last night after my daughter was in bed! (so much easier! I usually shop with her with me) And I used 12 doublers! (2 first transaction, 5 the next and 5 the next) I didn’t go out of the store after each one, but I did get just the stuff for each transaction and go through the line 3 times. It was great! I think I ended up spending about $20 but I would have spent less if they weren’t out of stock of so many things! My albertson’s is really having a problem keeping the promo stuff in stock! I guess I am not the only thrifty shopper there! :)

Sarah,
I roll with 5 kids
all the time yes its crazy but theres no other option. I to live in CA. and jealous of your albertsons deals lol

You amaze me!! I love Albertsons but I live in CA so our sales arent as good, I think. I always get better deals at my Ralphs. Its great that you were able to do this with your kids in tow. I have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter and Ive taken her along with me a few times. Easy when its just one! Your kiddos are soooo cute!

Don’t you just love the special Albertsons sales!!!!

This morning I did something similar..
Got 4 boxes of Kraft Mac’n'Cheese (had coupon for buy 3 get one free), bought one box of Taco Bell taco shells, 2 cans taco bell refried beans, and three boxes of Kelloggs cereal… grand total of $1.47 out the door!

LeMira June 30, 2009 at 3:18 pm

I’m so jealous. We can only do one transaction at a time with doubles. Meaning, I would have to go in and out of the store three times to use all of my doubles in one shopping trip. Just doesn’t work with a kid. I’m lucky I make it through the store ONE time.

A Thrifty Mom June 30, 2009 at 4:09 pm

Lemira I do have to go out of the store each time…..it is hard but the price is worth it

I completely understand about shopping with/without kids! Every time I find myself alone for whatever reason (such as their dad took them somewhere or they are with grandma) then I feel like “yay! Let’s shop! alone!

Elizabeth June 30, 2009 at 2:30 pm

I am so w/you on shopping w/the kids….STRESSFUL! I try to do my shopping alone too :)

Paola June 30, 2009 at 2:12 pm

Never mind, it says any one! Thanks!

Paola June 30, 2009 at 2:06 pm

Isn’t the coupon for raisin bran extra?

A Thrifty Mom June 30, 2009 at 3:09 pm

Paola, yes the photo shows raisin brand extra…but the wording says any raisin brand…..hope that helps!
