My 4 year old is pretty good about getting his shoes on the right feet… but he still has trouble. He does not like to ask for help and wants to do it himself, and do it right. But some shoes are just hard to figure out which foot is the left and which foot is the right. My Mom did this “matching” game with me when I was little, and 30 years later it still works great for teaching my son the correct foot as well.
Take nail polish and make a small dot, or a few dots on the inside sole of your childs shoe. Allow to dry, when your child goes to put on their shoes have them MATCH the dots together this will make sure the shoes are on the correct side and no more asking “Are my shoes on the right feet”. Teaches your child to be independent and helps them get their shoes on the correct foot too!
