To be honest I had never even heard of Fondue till I was married.  ( I grew up in a small town, don’t laugh)  For our Honeymoon one of our friends gave us a gift card to a local Fondue restaurant….. it was good don’t get me wrong.  But  $75 for one meal about made me sick.  I found you can make your own Fondue really easy, at a fraction of the price.  You can find lots of recipes online, but this is one I have used several times and it is super easy.

In a small crock pot add:

  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups chopped chocolate ( can be choc. chips, candy bars, melting chocolate, what ever you have)
  • half a bag of Marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • In crock pot Heat on medium low, stir every 20 mins till smooth and creamy. OR You can also do it on the stove top in a large sauce pan, but I would stir continually till it is well bended.
  • Dip fruit, cake, or whatever you like.  Enjoy

Jenny- WalMart has like 100 shishkabob sticks for $2. They would work and still be thrifty. The metal ones are expensive.

This sounds so good. I have always wanted to do fondue. This might be a special treat for the kiddos.

Any suggestions on what to use as dipping sticks/skewers? I would like to try this but want to keep it frugal (I don't want have to buy serving sticks).
