What do you dip your sweet potato fries in?

I, Ingard, really like sweet potato fries and ketchup just doesn’t seem to go with them, nor does ranch, or honey mustard, nor butter. When I ordered sweet potato fries this summer at a restaurant, they were served with this sauce called ‘trashy sauce’. This sauce was so yummy I asked our waitress what was in it, she told me she would tell me if I could guess the three ingredients. The game began. 🙂

So I am sharing this with you all no game involved and it is so simple!

I made it at home today and this is what I used for a single serving:

  • about 1 heaping Tablespoon of sour cream
  • about 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • about 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
  • mix well and then DIP!

is it vanilla extract that is used for dip? picture of bottle is confusing!! thanks

VANILLA!!!!!!!!!!! That's the ingredient I was missing. I've been trying to replicate the same sauce for awhile myself. Thanks for solving the mystery for me. Since I couldn't get the trash sauce quite right, I started using Poppy Seed Dressing at home & it's yummy too!

It's so cheap to just buy sweet potatoes (I go for the ruby yams) and bake them up into fries. I do fry sauce: ketchup and mayo mixed together.

Sherece, sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing. As you can tell I don't use exact measurement either...I am an eyeball it cook.

Sounds good! Much better than the ketchup or butter with cinnamin suger that we have tried.

That sounds yummy! My family loves the sweet potato fries - we will give this recipe a try. We used to get these fries at a Hawaiian restaurant that served them with a chipolte garlic dip that I love. I didn't get their recipe, but came up with my own. I don't use exact measurements, so you will have to come up with your own to taste - Use about a half cup of Mayo, 1 or 2 cloves of garlic pressed, a teaspoon or so of lemon juice and a TBS or so of chipolte sauce ( I buy it canned in the Hispanic section of my grocery store).
