Grill Cupcakes, Perfect For Summer (or Father’s Day!)
This recipe is something the kids can help with. Mine did it on their own! Definitely not perfect, but they are cute and fun and something the kids and I enjoyed doing together.
You will need
Cupcakes (whichever flavor you like) baked, iced and cooled
Red gel icing
Black writing icing
red mike and ikes or hot tamales
We just used a box mix cupcake, nothing special along with some homemade chocolate frosting. Darker icing would probably look better for the grill, but we like the flavor if this one a lot.
Once your cupcakes are frosted (no need to get fancy) you will use the red gel icing and put a small dot of it in the middle. Gently spread it around. This will be your hot coals. I couldn’t find any orange, but the two together would look great I think!
Then use black frosting to draw grill lines across your cupcakes. Add a couple of mike and ikes to the top. Then use the black icing to make grill lines across the hot dog.
This was so fun to do! I loved letting the kids do the work and just guiding the process along! Getting the kids involved in the kitchen can be hard some times, but it is a great way for them to learn and help them be more self sufficient.
