Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Hope family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Genica Donaldson this is the 132nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this family in a village on the outskirts of Aba, Nigeria. they were introduced to us by their village leader. The Hope family live in a one bedroom house that is almost falling apart. They have 2 kids Princess and Justice. We did not meet Mrs Hope at home, we heard she went to the market.

The Hopes cook with firewood in a small hut outside their house. Firewood is the cheapest thing to cook with but it also makes the pots black with soot. Mr Hope is a skilled Generator repairer but he does not have a shop to work in and instead goes to people’s houses to repair their generators. Their hasn’t been much work around so he stays home to take care of the kids on most days. Mrs Hope has a small stall in the local market where she sells fruits and vegetables and that was why she was not home when we came by.

This lovely family was a special meet. We made quick friends with the two kids Princess and Justice although Princess prefers the company of her dad. When we told him of what we brought for them, Mr Hope was pleasantly surprised and was grateful to those who donated to his family. Things might not be going very well for him and he was sure that our visit was an answer to his prayers. I am very happy for this family and I know this bag of Rice will relieve them of some worries.
