. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Udofia family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Ciara Thacker this is the 349th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this family at Ikot Oku in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. When we got to this beautiful compound we met Mrs Akaniyene Ikpeme Udofia and two of her kids who later introduced us to the rest of the family. We met Mr Iniebe Ikpeme who is the head of the family and his occupation is farming. A job that takes long hours with very little profit. Often leaving him with the hard choice of selling his produce so he has money to continue or taking that same produce to feed his family but then have nothing to continue his farming needs.

After we sat in the passage for a while we were shown around and we got to the kitchen. It was built with bamboo sticks and their fire stand was made up of clay, they didn’t have much kitchen equipment, they used palm kernels to increase the level of fire in the absence of kerosene when cooking.

You can tell this family is doing the best they can with what little they have. A tidy home with nothing much when it comes to material things. The children are thin and you can tell hunger is a often visitor for them. They are wearing tattered clothing, that is ill fitting. But this clothing is clean despite the stains. You can tell Mrs Akaniyene Ikpeme Udofia is a caring mother doing the best she can with her current situation. As you can see in the photo she changed in the photo from when we first arrived she wanted to took her very best for the photo with thie rice.

The Udofia’s family were really happy and grateful for the bag of rice we delivered. Mr. Iniebe was mostly very excited during this event knowing the difference this bag of rice will make for his family. He was so grateful to us and prayed for those who have helped this family.
