Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive.

The Following story is about the Francis family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Simoline Key, Nancy Johnston , Jenn Klinsky and Amanda Rondorf this is the 3rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations!

We set out on a journey to meet a special family that was recommended to us by their church bishop. They lived in the outskirts of the town of Aba, Nigeria. They did not have a house address as houses where they lived don’t have one. We took a guide along with us to show us the house and after several wrong turns and rough terrain we found the house. It was a bungalow surrounded by bushes.

The house the was dilapidated and due to their non payment of rent, the landlord had given them a quit notice which had already past. The breadwinner of the family recently lost his job as a water bottling company driver after he had an accident with the bus and has since struggled to find another work. The wife freelances as a hairdresser and goes to peoples houses to make their hair since she does not have a shop of her own and all her kids are still too young to look for jobs.

The Francis house

It was in this state that we met the Francis family, a family of four whose happiness belied the state of the family. They welcomed us with joy and when we told them the reason for our coming Mr Francis broke into tears. turns out that they did not have any food to eat that evening and didn’t know where their next meal will come from. I took a picture of where they made the meals and asked them what they did when it rained and Mrs Francis said they will bring the stove inside the house and cook there.

Where they prepare their meals

I felt for this beautiful family who even through this challenges still appeared happy and hopeful  for a better tomorrow. I left there place feeling like we made a difference in there lives and that our contribution will go a long way in helping them survive and helping them have faith that God answers all prayers.
