Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive.
The Following story is about the Ojugo family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Cat Neiheisel this is the 10th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
This family was recommended to us by their church leader and they live in the outskirts of the city. The journey took us through a very remote area where we find the Ojugo’s. They are a wonderful family who received us well. They did not live in the best of houses but they had the warmest attitude and welcome for us.
This was the view of the kitchen of the Ojugos. They made a little cement room, coudn’t afford to put a door on it and cook of firewood to save costs.
We met the Godswill Ojugo family, a family of four kids. the father and mother, Mr Godswill and Mrs Ocheze Ojugo are both farmers and their subsistence farming is not able to cater for all their family wants or needs. As we sat under a tree shade and they brought out coconuts for us to eat, we felt that they offered us the best they could offer and it brought a special feeling to my heart when they were brimming with smiles as they saw the rice being carried into their home. Their attitude was one of joy and appeciation and we were sure that feeling will last for a long while so that they can brighten the days of other people who meet them.
