Bag of Rice Project #121 -A visit to the Aaron family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Aaron family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Carrie Peters this is the 121st bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this family in a village called Mboko in Abia state, Nigeria. This family was introduced to use by their local leader who we met for help in identifying needy people in that village. We met Mr Aaron who has 10 children and has been married to his wife for a long time. We were not able to meet all of his children at home. The Aarons live in one bedroom mud house and have all their other utilities outside of the house, such as bathroom and toilet.

The Aarons constructed their kitchen using bamboo sticks and a thick waterproof material as a roof . They then use cheap firewood to cook. Mr Aaron is a retired driver and a farmer and his wife Zipa Aaron is also a farmer and they sell produce from their farm to survive. We were so glad we met this family and interacted with them.

The Aaron family was overjoyed by our presence, farming has been poor this year and they were happy that out of nowhere to help out their family. They were immensely grateful to those who donated and I know that this family truly deserves this bag of Rice and that it will be of so much benefit to them. I was so happy that our visit left them happier than they was when we met them.
