Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Evuru family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Gina Kaberline this is the 122nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this family in a village outside Aba, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their church leader. They live in a rented one bedroom apartment but their utilities are outside of the house. The Evurus have 6 kids and we me the whole family when we went to visit them. It was raining when we went to visit this family but that did not dampen the mood of this family as they received us well.

The Evurus cook in a separate place constructed with sticks and a thatch roof. And they constructed a cooking place with mud and they place their pots on it. Mr Evuru is a mechanic and he works at home, he specializes on motorbikes and we met him working on one of them when we came to visit them. Mrs Evuru gathers the used palm nuts and bags them to sell to those who make soap and pomade from them.

We loved visiting with this family and loved to talking to each of their children. When we told them of why we came to visit them and what we brought for them, they were so happy. They were grateful to those donated to them and prayed that they will be blessed. This bag of Rice will go a long way in feeding this large family and will take care of them for a long time. We were happy that we left this family feeling better than before we met them.
