Bag of Rice Project #143 -A visit to the Iso family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Iso family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Elizabeth Speece this is the 143rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Iso family was wonderful to meet and they welcomed us into their home. They live in a two bedroom mud house with other utilities built apart from the main house. The Isos have 11 kids but we only met Mr and Mrs Iso and two of their kids at home.

The Isos cook with both kerosene and firewood in a mud hut that is built separately from the house. They also built an open style bathroom outside the house. The Isos are farmers and everyone of them contribute in farming. Some of their kids were at the farm at the time we came to visit them.

This family was very welcoming and after their initial surprise by our visit, they were very welcoming. They were grateful for the bag of Rice we brought and thanked those who donated to their family. This family will be improved by this gift and it will make a meaningful difference in their lives.
