Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Saturday family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to an Anonymous donor this is the 144th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by the village chief. The Saturday family live in a one bedroom mud hut that was just newly built as their previous house was destroyed by a storm. The Saturdays have 5 kids. We only met Mrs Saturday at home as her husband had gone to farm.

The Saturdays cook with firewood and cook in the open when it is not raining. They were in the midst of building their house with clay which they had dug from the ground and then used to patch up the house. It was interesting to see, as I have never seen a mud hut being built before. The Saturdays are farmers and they live and survive off of what they plant and sell from their farm.

I really loved this family and the smile on Mrs Saturdays face when she heard of what we brought for them. She told me that their family were very grateful and in need of sustenance and had been looking for where to get a loan to buy a bag of Rice. I know that those who donated to this family will continue to reap the benefit of their kind gesture and that God will replenish them.
