Bag of Rice Project #149 -A visit to the Noah family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Noah family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Consuelo Medero this is the 149th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their neighbor. We heard of this family while we were in the area and decided to pay them a visit. The Noahs have three kids and live in a rented one bedroom apartment. We did not meet Mr Noah at home but we met Mrs Noah and her kids.

The Noahs cook using firewood and were in the process of making Garri, a meal gotten from cassava when we arrived. That is what Mrs Noah fries and then sells in the local market while her husband rides a commercial motor bike in the city. We did not plan to meet this family but when we did I could see that they needed some miracle to help their family in someway.

When we met Mrs Noah and explained to her who we were and what we brought for them she was astounded and happy. She did not understand how we picked their family and she was extremely grateful. I am happy we listened to their neighbor because this family are needy and will benefit from this bag of Rice and survive off of it for a long time.
