Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Blessing family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Keri Lyn Renner this is the 163rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village head. The Blessing family live in a one room house made entirely of zinc. We met only Mrs Blessing and her baby at home. Mr Blessing was not at home when we visited them.

The Blessings cook with firewood in a kitchen that only has a roof supported with wood. Mrs Blessings fries and sells bean cakes and was in the process of doing that when we arrived to meet with them. Her husband is a farmer and was at his farm so we did not meet with him. It was delightful meeting this family and even with their living conditions they appeared very happy and enthusiastic in meeting us.

Mrs Blessing was very happy with her bag of Rice and was praying and thanking us for remembering their family. This family will benefit a lot from this bag of Rice and it will feed them for a while to come. She gave us some bean cakes on our way home and it was delicious. I just wanted to add that in there, this visit has made me meet and care for a lot of families and I’ve loved every single one of the families that we have visited so far.
