. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Michael family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Kristina Cassar this is the 208th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

I absolutely love this next family we visited. We met the Michael family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Michaels live in a one bedroom mud house with no running water or electricity. From the picture below you can see a drum they use in collecting rain water and when they do not have rain water they fetch from the local stream. We met the Michael boys working on a bench for their house and we had fun talking to them about it.

The Michaels have a semi open structure which they use for both their kitchen and a pen for goats. They use firewood in cooking because it is the cheapest they can afford. Mr Michael is a carpenter and he taught his kids the skill as well. He was not at home when we visited them. Mrs Michael is a farmer and they mostly rely on their farm to get food because most people in this village do not use carpenters that much.

The Michael family were very happy to see us and the sentiment was likewise from our end. They appreciated the bag of Rice and expressed their thanks to those who donated the Rice to their family. We eventually met with Mr Michael later that day and he tracked us down to thank us for the bag of Rice. With the state of the economy in Nigeria, families appreciate these visits even more during this period.
