. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Nkanga family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Jeanette Meyers this is the 213th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Nkanga family in a village outside Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief and he also gave us someone to guide us in locating this family. The Nkangas live in a one room mud house, they do not have a kid yet. The house do not have plumbing or electricity and for water they fetch from a local stream or collect rain water.

The Nkangas cook with firewood in an open space outside their home. Mr Nkanga is a commercial motorcyclist and he is lucky to own his own motorbike. However they are really struggling as the motorbike was undergoing repairs at the time we visited and he had not worked in a while because of that, which means no income. His wife is unemployed as well and helps the husband in farming so that they can get food to eat, this is their only source of food. It will be some time before the bike is repaired.

The Nkangas were happy to meet us. They were very grateful for the bag o Rice gifted to their family and were very grateful to those who donated it to them. With Mr Nkanga not being able to work, this gift was a special blessing to them and one that will feed them for some time.
