. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the James family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Barb Przybylski and Britani Shea this is the 214th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this special family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were recommended to us by their village head. We met the James family, two orphans who lost their parents years ago and live in a broken down mud house. I do not understand how they manage to live in this house, it has no doors or windows and they only have a bed and their personal belongings inside the house. They use a makeshift door to close the entrance at night and they take their baths in a neighbors house. Somehow I forgot to take pictures of inside the house but I was amazed throughout my visit to this family.

They cook with firewood in a corner of their house and they use firewood because that is all they can afford. Both of the James brothers are farmers and traders. They have a small farm and they also sell Palm Kernel in a local market. They say if the market is good for them and they work pretty hard then they will have enough money to restore their house to a better shape.

The Jameses were expecting us so they dressed up in their best clothes for our visit. They were very happy to see us and very grateful for their bag of Rice. They expressed thanks to those who donated this gift to their family and prayed for God’s blessings in their lives. This gift meant a lot to this family and since they had not met us before they tried to offer us drinks for visiting them. It is occasions like this that I’m super proud of the fact that I’m part of this very important movement.
