. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Ekwo family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Erika Christensen Family this is the 220th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We visited this next family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. Mrs Ekwo is a widow and she has 5 kids. They live in a one bedroom mud house. This house does not have plumbing or electricity and parts of it are falling apart. There is no borehole in this village so people fetch water from streams or collect rain water.

We love, love this family. We had a lot of fun talking to them. Mrs Ekwo cooks at the back of her house in a semi open kitchen made of sticks and palm fonds. Ever since Mr Ewko died and left Mrs Ekwo with their 5 kids they have been struggling to keep their heads above water. Mrs Ekwo is a farmer and grows cassava in hopes of feeding her kids and selling the left overs to make some money. But the harvest has been poor this year, and markets have been restricted due to covid.

This family made our day. They welcomed us very well and were happy to see us. Mrs Ekwo was very ecstatic about her bag of Rice and just could not stop thanking God, that we visited her. She then prayed for those who donated, that the Lord might bless them for their kindness and she said she was grateful for their timely appearance. I am pretty sure that this family had nothing much to eat that day but our visit became a source of miracle to her and her beautiful family.
