. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Akpan family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Ryan & Daisy Angus this is the 221st bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We visited this next family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Akpans have 6 kids. They live in a one bedroom mud house. This house does not have plumbing or electricity. There is no borehole in this village so people fetch water from streams or collect rain water.

The Akpans do not have a kitchen so they cook in the open with firewood. They live in a communal compound so they share everything else with their neighbors. Mr Akpan works as a security at a local school and Mrs Akpan is a trader at the village market where she sells vegetables. They both try as much as they can to make ends meet for their family but of recent things has been very tough for them.

It was a wonderful meeting this family. They recently lost one of their kids due to sickness and they were praying for a miracle in order to help take care of their remaining kids. They were very happy to see us and even happier when they saw what we brought for them. Rice is a major food in Nigeria and they do not have any nor could they afford to buy one in this harsh economic situation. They expressed their thanks to those who donated and Mrs Akpan told us that we were answers to their prayers. I know this family will benefit from this for months to come and we left them feeling happy with the smiles on their faces.
