. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Iwok family, their bag of rice was donated In Loving Memory of Sarah Mooreland this is the 232nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Iwok family in a village outisde of Uyo located in the southern part of Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Iwoks have 5 kids and they live in a 2 room mudhouse with no plumbing or electricity. To get water they have fetch from the local stream.

The Iwoks cook with firewood in a semi open kitchen made with sticks and palm fonds. They don’t have money to build a more permanent structure. While we were talking to them I saw a boy and his mother gathering sticks which will be used for cooking. Some of the kids have to carry huge piles of sticks on their head for long distances. Mr Iwok is a farmer and the whole family pitches in to help grow their cassava and they sell what they can and eat the surplus.

The Iwoks were very welcoming to us. We enjoyed visiting this family and getting to talk to them. Mr Iwok was very very grateful for the bag of Rice and kept thanking God for remembering his family. He further thanked those who donated and prayed that God will continue blessing them. We left this family in high spirits knowing that we left them in better state than we met them.
