. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Udo family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Holst Family this is the 234th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Udo family in a village outside of Uyo located in the southern part of Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Udos have 5 kids and they live in a shared two bedroom mudhouse with other tenants and they don’t have plumbing or electricity. To get water they have fetch from the local stream.

The Udos share their semi open kitchen with the other tenant in the house. They both use firewood to cook but we did not meet the other family. Mr Udo is a tailor and he sews at home and that is why we met him at home. His wife is hairdresser and went to make a neighbors hair so we did not meet her. Both of them have found work hard to come by in this economic shutdown and this has really affected this family.

We were happy to meet this wonderful family and enjoyed their company. They were extra happy with our visit when we gave them their bag of Rice. They thanked us and expressed their thanks to those who donated to their family. Their smiles rubbed off on us and kept us smiling throughout our journey back.
