. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Monday family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to ANNETTE KUHN this is the 238th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Monday family in a village just outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were recommended to us by his village chief. The Mondays live in a one bedroom mudhouse with no electricity or plumbing. Mrs Monday is a widow and she has 7 kids. She became the bredwinner of the house when her husband died 3 years ago.

The Mondays cook in a semi open structure. They use firewood because it is the cheapest they can afford. Mrs Monday sells palm kernel nuts, you can see them on the ground in the picture above. They have to accumulate a lot of it before they can sell it and the pay is not that great but this family has managed to survive on that.

We had fun visiting this family. They were so welcoming and happy with our visit. One of Mrs Monday’s sons had helped us locate a house when we were lost and it was nice to ask someone for the direction to their own home. They were very grateful for the bag of Rice and thanked those who donated it to their family. And I know that this gift means a lot to this family and will help them to keep on surviving.
