Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Fidelis Agbeze family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Rebecca Myers this is the 24th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We got lost on our way to the Fidelis family house. We had to make a lot of calls before we got redirected to the right path as we listened to instructions it helped us to find our way back to the right path back to their house. The Fidelis family lived in one of the most interior parts of Aba, a place not motorable during rainy season but okay during the dry season. In this place we met the wonderful Fidelis Family, a family of 3 kids, we only met 2 kids at home. They lived in a 3 bedroom house that is mostly unoccupied because of their financial circumstance.
They cook in one of the rooms, a little stove that is powered by kerosene. The father of the house Mr Fidelis was a revenue agent and fell into hard times when the government laid off a lot of workers and he has been unemployed since. The family has really been struggling to make ends meet
The Fidelis family really welcomed us and when we told them the reason for our visit and presented them with the bag of rice they were so grateful and prayed for us. We felt that we had contributed in helping this fine family and put back light in their eyes. They thanked those who donated to the contribution of the rice and were grateful to them.
