. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Wilson family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Collette Gordon this is the 242nd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Wilson family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were referred to us by their village chief. This visit was interesting to us because we only had one bag of Rice left and a woman in the same compound insisted on getting into the pictures which surprised us but the Wilson family did not seem to mind. We think she must be related. The Wilson however live in a one bedroom mud house and they share the same utilities with the other tenants. The Wilsons have 5 kids but we only met one of their daughters at home.

The Wilsons cook in a semi open kitchen and they use firewood because it is the cheapest that they can afford. They also share the kitchen with the other tenants in the compound. Mr Wilson is a farmer and so is his wife, the farming season has not yielded as much as they expected so their daughter had to learn how to sew but she does not have money to get a shop so she sews at home.

We were very happy to meet this wonderful family. It was so interesting when their neighbor in the pink shirt also insisting in being part of their family and getting a part of the Rice. They were very grateful with their bag of Rice, happily shared with the other woman as well. Which was touching and shows their character, knowing how hard these times are for everyone in the village. They thanked those who donated it to their family. Farmers have been hit very hard this year and our visit was very welcomed by the Wilson family.
