. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Eme family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Amber Croff this is the 243rd bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Eme family in a village just outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were recommended to us to by their village chief. The Emes have 7 kids and they 2 bedroom mud house. This house has no plumbing or electricity and to get water, the kids trek to find the nearest stream which is 30 minutes away. Some days they have to make several trips to gather water. We met the Eme family peeling cassava that they just harvested and we joined in and it was fun to learn.

The Emes cook with sticks and a metal tripod in a room outside their house. It doesn’t take so much to set up and use and it’s the cheapest they can afford too. The Emes are farmers and we met them just returning from from farm with Cassava that they are peeling and getting ready for the mill, where it will go through the process to turn it to Garri. They will then sell this and keep the remaining for their own consumption.

We loved meeting this hard working family and they were nice people and very welcoming despite their hard situation. They were happy and grateful for their bag of Rice and expressed their thanks to those who donated it to their family and prayed for God to bless them. Its been a tough farming season and this family has not had the best of returns, so this bag of Rice will go a long way in helping this family keep surviving.
