. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Udeme family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Becky Wright this is the 244th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Udeme family in a village just outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were recommended to us to by their village chief. The Udemes have 2 kids and they 1 bedroom mud house. This house has no plumbing or electricity and to get water, they trek to find the nearest stream which is 30 minutes away. This is a trip Mrs. Udeme has to often make with her two young children, often more than once a day. We did not meet Mr Udeme at home but we met the rest of the Udemes.

The Udemes cook with firewood in a semi open kitchen. It is the cheapest means of fuel that they can afford. Mr Udeme was not at home because he was at work. He sells fish at the local market. He wakes up early morning and goes to the city then buys fish and then comes back to the village to resell it at a very marginal profit that is barely enough to support his family. But something he an do to insure his children have a daily meal if nothing else.

We enjoyed meeting with the Udemes and their compound was very clean and organized you can tell they take pride in what they have even if it is very little. They were grateful for the bag of Rice and Mrs Udeme kept thanking us over and over, for the Rice. She kept saying that they did not have food that day and have been wondering where their meal would come from and we just answered their prayers. I’m sure things have been tough for them and I pray for more blessings on those who keep donating to this visits.
