. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Ukpe family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Daryl & Ilise Andersen this is the 245th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Ukpe family in a village just outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were recommended to us to by their village chief. Mrs Ukpe is a widow and she has 2 kids and they live in a 2 bedroom mud house. This house has no plumbing or electricity and to get water, they trek to find the nearest stream which is far away from their home. And in one of these pictures you can see the black and blue drums they use in storing water.

The Ukpes cook outside their house but because of the smoke from the firewood they use they have to cook outside of the room they built for their kitchen. Since Mrs Ukpe lost her husband, she has turned to farming in order to raise money to take care of her family. She farms on it herself or hires people to help her but the farming season this year has been poor.

The Ukpes were happy to see us, and they were very grateful for their bag of Rice and thanked those who donated it to their family. It has been a bad farming season and families and families that relied on it to help feed their family. So they appreciate this gift a lot more than they can even express.

And while we were leaving their house we found this cute mud Barbing salon and I thought to include it here.
