. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Egwu family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to The Graham Family this is the 247th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the family the Egwu family in a Ibii, a village in the eastern part of Nigeria. Mr Egwu has 5 children and they live in a rented 2 bedroom house. The house has no plumbing or electricity and most houses in this village are like this. He rents a farmland annually from a maternal Uncle, this is because he never inherited any farmland from his poor parents.

The Okos cook with firewood which they fetch from their farm, about 2 miles away from their home. The cost of Kerosine is so high and Gas is not an option at all. His family has a total of 9 people including himself and the wife. They manage whatever proceeds that come out from the sale of their farm produce and eat same some times, but there is never enough to spend on extra things like fuel.

We had never visited this village before and all the families we met where surprised and happy that they were out of the blue receiving a bag of Rice. They were very grateful to the donors but were surprised about the fact that they can be gifted a bag of rice in this global economic downturn, more so from strangers. A full bag of rice is not something one expects to be given, a treasure and blessing. They prayed that God bless and reward those who donated these gifts that will help their struggling family.
