Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Glory John, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Laura Freund is the 25th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.
We met this family in Aba, and we were very impressed by story of what she has been through. Mrs Glory John raised 6 children on her own after her husband ran away years ago. She says she knows where the husband is but that he is not interested in taking care of his children. They live in a mostly uncompleted building and cook in a separate makeshift shed outside the house. We met only her and the youngest son Daniel at home as all her other kids are out of the house learning skills. Mrs Glory looks small but she has gone through a lot raising this kids and did it all alone. A lot of people recommended her to us and we felt happy giving her some help
When we met Mrs Glory and told her of the reason for our visit, she was overjoyed. She thanked us and assured us that this what what she has been praying for as her and her family has been lacking proper food for a while. Her youngest son Daniel was a live wire, he loved the rice and the pictures we were taking and insisted and appearing on them. We loved this family so much and knew that we made a wonderful decision in coming to there house and know that those who donated has made a major difference from this act of love.
