. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Marcus family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Shirley Taylor this is the 261st bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met this wonderful family in a village outside of Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Marcuses live in a one bedroom mudhouse with no plumbing or electricity. Mrs Marcus is a widow and she has 5 kids. We were happy to meet them and enjoyed talking to them.

The Marcuses cook with firewood in the open, they can not afford any other means of fuel and when it is raining they can’t cook and have to wait till it stops. Mrs Marcus is a farmer, she grows cassava on her late husband’s farmland and has been using the proceeds from the farm to take care of her kids. Farming is hard work with very little profit, with the poor harvest this year and markets shut down due to covid it has been a never hard year. We met two of her kids at home and the rest has either gone to school or out looking for odd jobs they can do.

The Marcuses were surprised at both our visit and our gift to them. They thanked us profusely for the bag of Rice as it is scarce and expensive to buy. They were grateful to those who donated and prayed for more blessings in their lives. Locating this family was difficult but the smiles on their faces made the trip worth it.
