. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Udoh family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Becky Wright this is the 264th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

The Udohs live in a village called Uruk unam located in the southern part of Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Udohs have 6 children and they all live in a two bedroom mudhouse with no electricity or plumbing. In one of the pictures below you can see how they collect their rain water from the roof and channel it into a small drum. We met only Mr Udoh and his wife at home because the rest of their children were in school.

The Udohs could not afford to build another house for their kitchen, so they use an old metal bucket and carved it out so that they can stick sticks into it and balance the pot on top of the bucket. The Udohs are farmers and stayed home today because they heard we might be coming to see them. It’s been difficult for them to take care of their large family and this farming season has been really poor.

It was a long journey to meet the Udohs and I was glad we made it. They were so welcoming and offered us water and fruits. They were very grateful for their bag of Rice and thanked us profusely for remembering them in a time like this. They were also grateful to those who donated the bag of Rice to them after we explain how it got to them and they expressed their thanks and prayers to them as well.
