Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign
. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. You can also read about other families we have been able to bless here.

The Following story is about the Udokoro family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Abigail Campbell this is the 267th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Udokoro family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were introduced to us by their village chief. The Udokoros have three children and they live in one bedroom mudhouse. This village has not had power to make light in their homes, in ten year. The only place they can get drinking water they have to pay people to bring water from the city to them or they drink from a local stream. They often choose the latter because the former is too expensive.

They Udokoros can not afford to build a kitchen so they cook at the back of their house. They cook in the open with firewood which is the cheapest they can afford to cook with. The Udokoros are farmers and they feed the family off of what they grow from farming. We met them dehusking palm fruits in front of their house which they will then take to the local market and sell.

It was so wonderful meeting this family. They were very welcoming and their smiles was very beautiful to see after the long day we had. Mrs Udokoro did a little quick dance when she saw us and thanked us so much for their bag of Rice. They were very grateful to those who remembered and donated to their family and prayed for continued blessings in their lives.
