. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Ufot family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Shannon Rondeau this is the 269th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations

The Ufot family are a nice family we met in a village called Uruk Unam outside of Uyo, Nigeria. They were recommended to us by their village chief. The Ufots have 1 kid and they live in a one bedroom mudhouse with no plumbing or electricity. and to get water they have to fetch from a local stream which serves as the water source for the whole village.

The Ufots can not afford to build a kitchen just yet so they use the back of their house and cook in the open. They use firewood to cook because it is the cheapest fuel they can afford. Mr Ufot operates a commercial motorbike and drives people to and fro. This is the primary source of income for this family but seeing as a trip costs only 26 pennies, it has been hard for them to survive. Often the cost of fuel ends up with little to no profit for a full days work.

The Ufots were very happy to meet us. We only met Mrs Ufot and her daughter at home and they were very happy for their bag of Rice and extra grateful to the donors for gifting them this bag of Rice. Currently the price of Rice in Nigeria is higher than most families to afford, on a rare chance they can buy rice they only buy it one cup at a time. So it means a lot to these families when they receive this full bag of Rice. It will bless them for months to come.

Their little one, not looking to sure as we tell them the whole bag was theirs to keep. But I assure you she was all smile as we left and saw the bag was in fact hers.
