Bag of Rice Project #27 -A visit to the Emmanuel family

Learn how you can be apart of helping people who are in need with our A Thrifty Mom Bag of Rice Campaign. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Emmanuel family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to an Anonymous Donor this is the 27th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

The Emmanuel family live in a rented one bedroom apartment with a lot of other people and share the other facilities with other tenants. We heard about them and decided to pay them a visit. They have 4 kids but 4 of the kids were on vacation with their aunt in a different city. Mr Emmanuel is not employed but he does odd jobs around and he is currently learning plumbing.

This family was a wonderful family to meet, much due to their beautiful daughter who greeted us and asked us if we wanted water. And how we needed water and her smile to lift a very tiring day for us. Her name is Emily and she is 6. She did not want to travel with her other siblings and wanted to stay close to mommy. The Emmanuel family were grateful for the rice and we were happy to see the smile on their faces. We encouraged Mr Emmanuel to keep learning his skill and we were glad to help him take off a load of his shoulders.
