. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Urometo family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Tiffany White, Nicola Boone and Karia Lee this is the 276th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the family of Ime Sunday Urometo, a palmwine tapper and his wife, Glory. The Imes have four kids and they live in a one bedroom mudhouse. They were introduced to us by their village chief who also helped us locate the family. This village is not connected to the national grid and have spent decades with no light and to get water, they have to trek to the local stream where everybody fetches from. It is either that or collect rain water which they can only do in rainy season.

The family cooks with firewood, in their palm-fronds made kitchen, the use of firewood is not far from the fact that it is very affordable and accessible as well. The Imes are farmers, and they grow cassava and eat the remainder of the produce not sold.

The Imes were happy to see us and were full of joy when we gave them a bag of rice. They sang songs of praise in appreciation to God, who has provided and prayed for the donors who have given freely to them.
