. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Usen family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Holle Mcrae this is the 277th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met family of Usen Thompson Akpan, He is a Pastor in charge of a local church located not too far from the village market. Their union is blessed with six Children. As a minister of the gospel, he doesn’t have any other support apart from his allowance from the district church. His wife is a part time farmer and she farms on a small scale basis. Farming is a family event that takes lots of work from everyone to ensure they have a harvest.

Their first daughter, Abasiakan is paralyzed, she can only move with aide of Clutches which was donated by a church member. According to the couple, treatment for Abasi as she is fondly called, saps a lot of resources from the family purse. They cook with a tripod stand locally made stove, these cooking stove can take about 20 sticks of small woods, it is fast, affordable and accessible too.

We were very happy to meet this wonderful family. The last time we were in this village I saw Abasi walking on the road and asked the village guide to find her home. They were very grateful with their bag of Rice and thanked those who donated it to their family. We left with smiles on our faces because we left them in better state than when we met them.
