. In 2016 we started helping a young man named Ikechukwu from Nigeria. Summer of 2019 we were able to visit his family in Aba, Nigeria. While there we saw widespread poverty and lack of basic needs. We would like to invite you to help meet one of those basic needs, by providing
Nigerian families with rice. This gift will feed a large family for a few months, or a single person a year. It also reminds them they are loved, and brings most of them to tears… as a full bag of rice is one of the most generous gifts they will ever receive. The Following story is about the Joseph family, their bag of rice was donated thanks to Shirley Taylor this is the 279th bag of rice our program has been able to give away thanks to generous donations.

We met the Joseph family in a village outside of Uyo, Nigeria. According to Mrs. Theresa, her husband died 10 years ago leaving her with 5 kids to cater for. Ever since her husband’s demise, life has not been the same as before. Until his death, her husband was a successful fisherman while she was into crop farming. The little money she makes from her farm produce is what keeps the family moving. They live in a rented one room mudhouse with other tenants.

She cooks with firewood which is the only affordable means to her, her sons whom she described as very hardworking make sure they don’t lack firewood which they fetch from her farm land.

The Josephs were happy to meet us. They were ecstatic and Mrs Joseph said she had been praying for a miracle and she tried to explain to us how appreciative they were for the bag of Rice. They thanked us over and over and expressed gratitude to the people who donated this bag of Rice to them.
